Ruger Precision Rifle in 6mm Creedmoor

Ruger Precision Rifle in 6mm Creedmoor

Ruger Precision Rifle 6mm Creedmoor When Ruger first introduced the original Ruger Precision Rifle (RPR) in 2015, it propelled Ruger from being known as simply the rimfire rifle company for its ubiquotious 10/22 rifle to the upper levels of the precision rifle market as a serious contender for shooters looking to dive into the sport without having to invest an arm and leg. Fundamentally the RPR completely changed how larger firearms manufactures develop and spec rifles for commercial sale to the precision community. In the two years since, many other manufactures have taken the same cues in rifle design from the RPR, such as including a chassis system direct from the factory, to chambering rifles in modern long range calibers with appropriate barrel twist rates.Read More
CZ P-09 Part 3 of 3

CZ P-09 Part 3 of 3

CZ P-09 9mm FDE Review Part 3 Continuing with our changes to the CZ P-09, the next spring to change out is the recoil spring, the most misunderstood spring of all. When it comes to rifles and shotguns it is often to hear the phrase my rifle prefers Xyz ammunition or my shotgun can run on 1 ounce loads. Tailoring the round to the weapon is the norm but not so in the pistol world. I have seen shooters put high pressure defense rounds down the pipe only to switch to a subsconic ammunition assuming that their pistol will continue to perform the same.Read More

CZ P-09 Part 2 of 3

In our last blog we took an initial look at the CZ P-09 FDE 9mm, this time we continue with our more in-depth look at this great pistol. As a recap the CZ P-09 FDE 9mm is one of CZ’s new polymer framed DA/SA guns. While great out of the box, I’ve always believed in wringing the most potential out of a pistol as possible, which likely is due to my focus as a competitive shooter, but even if your not a competitive shooter who does not like more performance from their firearms. I should note from the beginning that any modifications to a firearm should be made by a qualified gunsmith, and that any time you tinker with a firearm you assume all liability for those modifications and the result.Read More

CZ P-09 Part 1 of 3

CZ P-09 9mm FDE Initial Review Part 1 Of 3: For this review we decided to go in greater detail on the CZ P-09. While CZ is most known for its traditional steel pistol frames, it is undeniable that polymer is the new king of the heap when it comes to the material composition of firearms. Polymer is both lightweight compared to metal and can be every bit as strong. Not to mention polymer has the advantage over steel in that polymer wont rust or corrode. CZ jumped onto this band wagon, of course with their own take on the polymer pistol with the release of the CZ P-09 and P-07, full size and compact size pistols respectively. The CZ P-09 and P-07 are more unique in the market place as polymer framed hammer based DA/SA pistols.Read More

Product Review: Burris XTR 5-25x50mm

Product Review: Burris XTR 5-25x50mm

As I’ve talked about in previous product reviews for precision rifle shooting the scope is one of the most important pieces of gear as it is the visual connection between the rifle and the shooter. For newer shooters it can be difficult picking an optic and the process is typically a painful experience in compromising features compared to the higher end optics in lieu of a budget. Burris though decided to upend that convention with their XTR II line of scopes. One of the most notable, especially for long range shooting, in the XTR II line is the 5-25X-magnification model.Read More
Vortex Razor HD 4.5-27x56mm

Vortex Razor HD 4.5-27x56mm

When engaging targets at distance with precision fire, a high quality optic can be the difference between a hit and a miss. Talk to any experienced shooter in the long range shooting community and they can attest to the invaluableness of quality glass. Remember that a riflescope is the part of a rifle system that visually connects that rifle to the shooter. Looking through the glass the shooter is able to aim the rifle and also observe the conditions downrange including the location and type of target as well observe wind conditions through mirage and foliage signs.Read More
