The Mossberg 990 AfterShock is a compact 12-gauge, 3-inch–chambered semi-automatic system designed with an emphasis on maneuverability and functional control features. Despite its reduced overall length, the platform incorporates a gas-operated mechanism supported by corrosion-resistant internal components and finishes intended to enhance durability in varied conditions.
The 990 AfterShock utilizes a uniquely contoured grip structure engineered to provide a stable hold while helping to reduce the user’s perceived recoil. A rubberized palm surface is integrated into the grip to improve contact and handling, and the rear section includes a swivel-stud interface for attaching compatible accessories.
The loading port is enlarged and beveled to facilitate more efficient loading, and an anodized bright-orange magazine follower provides increased visibility during status checks. The elevator is extended and designed to minimize the chance of pinch points during operation. The forend incorporates Mossberg’s characteristic texturing and an attached strap, helping maintain consistent forward-hand placement while keeping the user’s hand clear of the muzzle.
